Who is Clemens Kaudela

Clemens Kaudela, known in the international freeride scene as C Dog, is one of the most versatile riders on the mountain bike gravity circuit. He does not stick to a single discipline: from dirt jump to slopestyle, up to the biggest jumps freeride has ever seen, Clemens has built his reputation by tackling every kind of terrain on two wheels.

Beyond racing, Clemens builds trails, both as a passion and as a profession, from simple pump tracks to some of the biggest jumps in the world. He is often the first to try out his own courses, a habit that lets him know every detail of the environment he rides in. In recent years he has been a regular presence at Darkfest, Loosefest, Huckfest, Audi Nines and at the freestyle show Masters of Dirt, among the most followed events on the global gravity calendar.

Off the bike, Clemens splits his time between ice hockey and motocross, sports that say a lot about a recurring trait in his profile: the drive to test himself in different environments, always chasing the next limit.

A rider, a shaper, an athlete used to being the first to try something new. And when a profile like this decides to invest in a project, the signal is hard to ignore.

A financial investment, not just a partnership

Clemens' entry into Bikeflip is not a standard sponsorship deal. He has invested his own capital, becoming a shareholder of the company and, as a result, an ambassador for the brand.

That distinction matters. Whoever puts their own money into a project truly believes in it, has a direct stake in its growth, and brings a credibility that no sponsorship contract can buy on its own.

With this move, Clemens joins a group of athletes who made the same choice before him: Loïc Bruni, one of the most successful names in downhill racing, Gabriel Wibmer, one of the most recognizable figures in international freeride, Stevie Schneider, and Johny Salido, the first Mexican rider to qualify for Red Bull Rampage. Five athletes from different disciplines and backgrounds, but with the same reading of the used bike market and the space Bikeflip occupies within it.

A record July for Bikeflip

Clemens' entry comes at a particularly significant time for the company. In July, Bikeflip posted the best month in its history, tripling the number of bikes sold compared to the same period the previous year.

The record is not limited to the marketplace. Bike shipping boxes, sold separately through the ecommerce site lab.bikeflip.com and through Amazon, also hit their own historic high in the same month. Two separate channels, both reaching their peak in the same period: a sign that the growth is not tied to a single product, but to the entire ecosystem built around used and refurbished bicycles.

It is against this backdrop that Clemens' choice carries even more weight, an athlete deciding to invest right as the numbers confirm the platform is on the right track.

Bikeflip: a platform growing fast

Bikeflip was founded in 2021 in Innsbruck by Andrea Maranelli, Italian trial champion, Fabio Wibmer, Red Bull rider, and Nikolai Holder, web development expert, with the mission of creating Europe's first vertical marketplace dedicated exclusively to bicycles.

In 2024, the platform generated one million euros in gross merchandise value, shipped across 26 countries, and closed a funding round of 1.6 million euros. The team today counts 25 people between employees and collaborators.

Why vertical platforms are winning

For years, buying a used bike meant relying on general purpose marketplaces, with no guarantees, no sector expertise, no protection. The market is changing.

Cyclists are looking for tools built around their specific needs: dedicated categories, reliable ratings, protected payments, managed shipping. This is exactly what a vertical platform offers compared to a generic marketplace.

Just one year after launch, in 2023, Bikeflip had nearly ten thousand bikes listed for sale, millions of visitors and thousands of registered users, positioning itself as the leader among specialist marketplaces in its core markets: Italy, Austria and Germany.

The arrival of investors like Clemens, who knows the market from the inside, confirms that the direction is the right one.

Who founded Bikeflip?

Bikeflip was founded in 2021 by Fabio Wibmer, Andrea Maranelli and Nikolai Holder. All three come from the professional cycling world and built the platform starting from the real needs of bikers.

Who is Clemens Kaudela and why did he invest?

Clemens Kaudela, known as C Dog, is one of the most versatile freeride riders on the international gravity scene, as well as a professional MTB trail shaper. He chose to invest his own capital in Bikeflip, joining the platform's group of athlete investors.

Is Clemens just an ambassador or did he actually invest?

He invested financially, becoming a shareholder of the company. The ambassador role is a direct consequence of that investment, not the other way around. It is an important distinction that certifies his genuine confidence in the project.

For Bikeflip, Clemens Kaudela's arrival is one more step in a journey that started in the mountains of Innsbruck and is today shared by athletes, investors and thousands of cyclists across Europe.

Because when someone who lives cycling at the highest level decides to invest in a project, they are not simply backing a company. They are betting on a vision.

And Bikeflip's vision is clear: to become the infrastructure of the used cycling market in Europe.
