In many rural areas of Malawi, reaching local markets can be a daily challenge. For farmers, the lack of reliable transportation often means fewer sales, higher costs, and less time to invest in their work.
Larsen, an irrigation farmer, knew this challenge well. Long distances and transport expenses limited his ability to sell produce and grow his business.
The support of World Bicycle Relief
In 2022, Larsen received a Buffalo Bicycle from World Bicycle Relief. From that moment, the bicycle became much more than a way to get from one place to another.
It allowed him to carry more goods to different markets without paying for transport. The time and money he saved became resources he could reinvest in his future.
More work, more independence
Thanks to the bicycle, Larsen expanded his maize fields, purchased a water pump, and created job opportunities for four people in his community.
